Another Win, Another Step Closer to Midwest League Title
The Milwaukee Bavarians became the fodder for our 56ers on our quest for another Midwest NPSL Title. On a warm, muggy, mosquito infested evening in Milwaukee, the 56ers dominated play from the start. With a starting lineup that is becoming more consistent; and lending itself to more defined understanding and play together, the 56ers created many scoring opportunities. On his first of two assists for the evening, Brad Ring made a crossing pass that Austin Nyquist put into the back of the net at 6:03, making the score 1-0 in favor of the visiting 56ers. The remainder of the first half saw continued pressure against the Bavarian goal, with fourteen shots. None of them found the net, but the stage was set for the second half onslaught.
Four minutes into the second half (49:14) Ring got the rebound of a Tenzin Rampa shot on goal, and fired it back at the goal from about ten meters out. The ball ricocheted off a defenders leg and crashed into the back of the net, making the score 2-0 for the 56ers. From there, the onslaught continued. Additional goals in the 55th, 66th, 78th, and 89th minutes by Ring, Henry Ayenero, Jed Hohlbein, and William Bagayoko made the score (6-1) in favor of the 56ers (as the Bavarians snuck a goal in the 76th minute). All in all, a good next step in league play.
