Four Princeton-56ers Named to Midwest Region All-Star Team
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) has announced the Regional All-Star Teams and the 2006 NPSL MVP’s. The All-Star Teams were selected by ballot from a representative of each team in the respective regions. In the Midwest Region, the Princeton-56ers of Madison, Wisconsin had four (4) players selected to the Midwest Region All-Star Team. One of the four Madison players is Jed Hohlbein (Forward), who was also a 2005 All-Star selection. Jed lead the Princeton-56ers in scoring for the second year with 8 goals and 4 assists. The other three Madison players for 2006 are first time selections. They are Zack Lambo (Midfielder) who had 4 goals and 3 assists, Reed Cooper (Defender) who had 1 goal and 1 assist, and Eric Mickschl (Goalkeeper).
As expected, the defending Midwest Region Champions, the Detroit Arsenal, who also won the 2005 NPSL National Championship, also had four (4) players selected to the Midwest All-Star Team. The Milwaukee Bavarians had three (3) players selected, and the St. Paul Twin Stars had two (2) players selected.
The 2006 NPSL Midwest Region MVP was Eric Mickschl, Goalkeeper for the Madison Princeton-56ers. Eric led the Midwest Region with a 0.88 goal average, having conceded only 7 goals in the 8 league games he played. He had 4 shut-outs in league games in leading the Princeton-56ers to the NPSL Midwest Region Championship.
