NPSL National Championship in Madison

MADISON, WI – July 27, 2009

The Madison 56ers NPSL amateur soccer team competing in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) announces that it will be hosting the 2009 National Premier Soccer League’s National Championship. The Madison 56ers NPSL was selected by a national bid process to host the 2009 NPSL National Championship finals.

The 2009 NPSL National Championship semifinals will be held on Friday, July 31 at 6:00 and 8:00 PM. The National Championship will be at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 1. All the games will be at Breese Stevens Field, in Madison. The NPSL National Finals will match the four NPSL regional champions from the West, Midwest, East, and South. The four NPSL regional champions are:
West Region – the SONOMA COUNTY SOL from Santa Rosa, California.
East Region – the ERIE ADMIRALS from Erie, Pennsylvania.
South Region – ROCKET CITY UNITED from Huntsville, Alabama.
Midwest Region – ST. PAUL TWIN STARS from St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Madison 56ers had previously hosted the NPSL Championship at Breese Stevens in July of 2006. The Madison 56ers NPSL were the Midwest Region Champions and played the West Region Champions, the Sacramento Knights. Over 1300 spectators saw an exciting game that Sacramento won 2 to 0 on two second half goals. In 2006 the NPSL was composed of just two regions, but has since expanded nationally with an East Region and a new South Region, and the championship has expanded to the four regional champions.

These are four of the best amateur teams in the USA and will be here in Madison for the NPSL Championship final. Each team is stocked with some of the best current and former college players and many former professional players. This event will easily be the highest quality, most competitive soccer event ever held in Madison. The Madison 56ers invite all soccer fans to come out both days and enjoy quality soccer in one of the best small stadiums in the Midwest. A coupon for $3.00 off the price of a ticket is available on the ticket page of the Madison 56ers NPSL web site at www.madison56ers.org/npsl and in the Friday, July 31 Wisconsin State Journal.
