Club Player Pass
Club Player Pass

Back
Introduced in 2004, the Club Player Pass allows players to play for other teams within the same club. Players may only move up or laterally in age or competition level. A new rule modification allows for Classic level players to move down one competition level.

Examples of player movement might be:

·   U12 player playing for U13 team (movement by age)
·   U12 Classic League player playing for U12 State League Team (movement by competition level)
·   U11 Classic A player playing with Classic B team (moving down within Classic only)

Combinations of the above may also take place, ie. Move up age level as well as competition level.

Players rostered in the U14 and younger age groups may not be allowed to play up more than 2 age levels ie. U12 registered player cannot play at U15 level, unless the players is originally rostered to the higher-aged level team. A player playing up, ie. An age appropriate U12 player rostered with a U13 team may NOT move down to his/her age group.

Madison 56ers SC Conditions for Using Club Player Pass:

·   Players' first responsibility is to the team they are permanently rostered to for the year. When utilizing the Club Player Pass, it is important that the move does not negatively impact the players' own team.
·   Player moving understands they are there to supplement the team and may not start. Playing time will be up to the discretion of the coach based on his/her needs, the amount of soccer the player has had on the day, etc.
·   Player cannot play for both teams in the same day if there is extensive travel involved and/or the number of playing minutes exceeds a reasonable (no more than what the player would experience in one regular game) amount of playing time.

Common Uses of the Club Player Pass:

·   A team has injured or missing players for a league game and needs to supplement their roster.
·   Players may be asked to play up in order to give them experience at an upper level to enhance their development. Both coaches would determine selected players.

Who Gets Selected to Utilize the Club Player Pass?

·   Coaches who need players are often looking for a particular position, and those who can handle the move physically (size and speed), technically (ball skills), and mentally (not intimidated-overly nervous). Most players are a combination of the above criteria.

** Players and parents of players need to be comfortable with the move. If they choose not to play up that is their prerogative and that decision will be respected. **

The Club Player Pass can be a great tool for teams to help each other out when players are missing due to injury or other commitments that may arise. It is also an excellent way to introduce emerging players to higher-level competition that may help in their soccer development.

The 56ers will not use the Club Pass as a means of maintaining roster or team viability. Teams need to be able to stand on their own the majority of the season and not have to rely on Club Pass players to survive.
